What Could Be Better Than Beauty?

As this is the beginning of my blogging journey, I'd like to first thank you for taking a look. I hope you find my postings helpful as well as enjoyable to read and would love it to be as interactive as possible so please feel free to share any suggestions or questions. That being said, I feel it is also necessary for me to fill you in on who I am and my goals for this blog.
I am fairly certain from the first time I insisted on wearing my plastic Easter hat and two different colored jelly shoes to play in the snow that my mother knew style was going to be a big part of who I was. That was roughly seventeen years ago. Today, I am a hair stylist at a very large day spa here in Corvallis, OR. and my love for finding my own style has only grown in the time that has gone by. Due to the fact that I make a living creating new looks for my clients on a regular business, I am constantly trying to find upcoming styles and ways to refresh the old ones. But why stop with the hair? Or even fashion for that matter?
And that, my friend, is where this blog comes in. There is a very beautiful art in presentation of the self that has somehow missed our generation. Not to say that we haven't done a lot of amazing things in our youth, because we definitely have. But, needless to say, looking good is not one of them. Unfortunately, we really can't even blame ourselves for this fault either. As a majority, young people have not been taught the kind of self value and respect that others before us are very familiar with. We, as a whole, are without much self awareness at all.
My hope is take this blog everywhere from fashion to manners and etiquette, being well read to how to cook easy, healthy meals. Whether it is homemade health care products or how to get more adequate sleep, taking care of yourself and the occasional spoiling is okay. Actually, it is more than okay, it's needed. Better Than Beauty is about the all around look and feel of self confidence, style and grace. We're taking it farther than any style magazine and getting down to the root of the problem. It's time for our generation to learn the importance of taking care of ourselves.
So go ahead. Read on, spoil yourself.
